These songs trace the journey of a wingless click beetle trying to find its way back home after being flung to a far off and unfamiliar land by a violent tornado. Bits and pieces of a rough idea.

Everything is as it should be. You are safe behind the glass walls of your enclosure, resting on patch of moss shaded by an overhanging philodendron leaf. A soft, oddly white lamp light illuminates your world, but this is how it's always been โ€”ย you don't even remember the outside world.

The swirling wind has plucked you from your home. You are hundreds of feet in the air. So this is what it feels like to fly.

That was quite a storm.

Will you ever get back home?

You find small creek leading to a welcoming village teeming with friendly looking ants. They notice you coming, bleary-eyed and possessionless. Many of them gather around to examine you, while others scurry off to the nest to find you some food and supplies.

The ants show you around their village, each ant has a purpose, a role to play.

After learning that the ants have no maps, only scent trails that you can't smell, they send you on your way. The eldest ant says the frogs will know what to do. Your journey begins with a single step into the unknown.

This swamp must be where the frogs live, but where is everyone?

The lillypad you're sitting on begins to rumble. A single frog emerges from the muck. "Quite a place for a little beetle to be sitting, yarp โ€” why aren't you flying little beetle? Yarp, yarp. Brave little beetle, yarp."

A crow's shadow passes above. The frog disappears back into the muck. This is it, be brave little beetle.

You find a group of weevils dancings around a small campfire made from a cast off ember. They say, "Come and dance around the fire, we will show โ€” show you everything. Every night the darkness hides us. Secrets held, now for you to find. We can see you. We can see you. But can you see us?"

Dogs bark in the distance, but you feel at ease. You must be getting closer.

A familiar sign, the big oak tree in the middle of the lawn from outside the window. You've never seen this side of it before. Sunshine filters through the leaves above.

You realize you never needed those wings at all.

Reunited at last.

Asleep again. Your dreams are infinite, in full color.
